Monday, the Assam Police apprehended a man from Tinsukia for he had pirated 500 books that are in Assamese.
Reports say there is a website with PDFs available by the supposed author of these books.
The police apprehended him on the complaint filed by members of The All Assam Publishers and Book Sellers Association.
The accused has been identified as Montu Deka and has been charged with copyright infringement.
A writer suggests that there should be more stringent punishment of the Deka.
The police have not determined whether there are more people involved in the case, but they are investigating.
