"Eknath Shinde Backstabbed Me," Says Uddhav Thackeray

Uddhav Thackeray, Chief Minister of Maharashtra on Tuesday, said that Eknath Shinde led the revolt with party MLAs in order to overthrow the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), government.

To Shiv Sena workers, Mr Thackeray stated that he had handed Mr Shinde responsibility for the party.

Shinde to whom i have handed the responsibility of my party has backstabbed me while NCP/Congress stayed with us. “It is very painful to observe that Sena workers won and got all he wanted,” Thackeray said to media personnel here.

Eknath Shinde led a Sena MLA group against the MVA government in June, which resulted in its losing majority in the Maharashtra assembly. In response, Shiv Sena chief Thackeray resigned as CM to avoid a floor vote.

Eknath Shinde’s new government in Maharashtra won Monday’s floor test with a margin of 162 to 99. It proved his government majority, and he is now the chief minister of the state as well as leader of Shiv Sena. Shinde received 164 votes, and the newly-formed BJP/Shinde coalition got 99.
