News Anchor Taken Into Custody Over Misleading Rahul Gandhi Video

Rohit Ranjan (Zee TV News Anchor) was today taken into police custody from his Delhi home. This came days after the channel had shown a false Rahul Gandhi video and apologized.

The dramatic footage showed a loud argument and jostling while the Chhattisgarh cops tried to arrest the anchor. However, the Ghaziabad police intervened to remove him. Rohit Ranjan sent an SOS message to the Uttar Pradesh police after the Chhattisgarh police arrived at the house around 5.30 AM. He claimed that they were unaware of the situation.

Chhattisgarh Police replied that they don’t have to notify anyone unless there is an arrest warrant.

He was then taken away by the Ghaziabad Police, which prevented him from being arrested by the Chhattisgarh Team. He currently resides in custody with the UP police and faces relatively minor charges.

The TV anchor was accused of bringing down the television station in Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh shortly after Rohit Ranjan played an Rahul Gandhi statement about an attack on his Kerala office. He allegedly used the incident as a commentary on Udaipur’s murderers.
