Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said a Russian missile strike on Monday struck a crowded shopping street in the eastern Ukrainian city of Clementchuk, killing at least two people and injuring dozens more.
“The occupiers fired missiles in a shopping center with more than 1000 civilians. The mall is on fire, the rescuers are fighting fire. I can’t imagine the number of victims,” Zelensky wrote in Telegram. ..
A video shared by Zelensky showed that the mall was in flames with dozens of rescuers and an outside fire engine.
Kyrylo Tymoshenko, Deputy Chief of Staff of the President of Ukraine, said in a telegram that about 20 people have been injured and 9 are in “serious condition” so far.
“Two people have died. Rescue operations are ongoing,” Tymoshenko added.
