NAGAON: Former self-proclaimed leader of All Assam Minority Student’Union (AAMSU), Kamurus Zaman, was arrested Tuesday night on the premises of the Nagaon police chief’s office for illegal weapons and ammunition.
Sources claimed that a minority student leader tried to forcefully enter SP’s Nagaon office. When a police officer on duty checked him at the entrance gate, police recovered one pistol and ammunition from his possession without proper authorized documentation. Police immediately seized weapons and ammunition and arrested him, sources said.
In this regard, a proceeding has been filed against him at Nagaon PS and further investigation is underway, sources added.
Importantly, he was offered two security officers for his security a few years ago, sources further said.
