Assam: Young people embark on a foot journey demanding a northeastern chapter in the NCERT book

In this regard, a young man named Rajon Das of Patharkandi began his journey on foot to reach the masses and appeal to him to attract the attention of the National Council for Education, Research and Training (NCERT).

He wants a northeastern chapter in his textbook, especially for class IX and X students.

Das, a student of NIT Sirchar, departed from Triplasandari Temple (commonly known as Matabari) in Udaipur on May 22nd. He arrived in Silchar on Saturday and headed to Guwahati’s Kamakia.

From there, he reports that he will travel to Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram on the final journey.

“I walk nearly 12 to 13 hours every day and hope to finish my journey in the next two and a half months,” TOI quoted.

“People in mainland India don’t know much about the northeast, so my effort is to make them aware of beautiful landscapes, traditions, cultures, and everything related to the region,” he said. I added.
