SIVASAGAR: A meeting took place on Monday with Sivasagar’s Deputy Commissioner Megha Nidhi Dahal to review progress on construction of the Sivasagar road linking Station Chariali and Sumoni and Dhodar Ali. This project was part of the Assam Government’s ‘Assam Mala’ scheme. According to the Deputy Commissioner, the “Assam Mala” scheme will increase connectivity in rural areas and provide immense benefits for rural residents.
He instructed the departmental officers to act quickly to make sure the works are completed on time and assured that they would cooperate.
However, water levels in Sivasagar’s rivers and tributaries have increased significantly in the past few days. The Deputy Commissar also visited several areas within the district, and had discussions with officials from the department and local residents. The Deputy Commissioner kept an eye on sensitive areas in the district and directed that all departments be ready to respond to any emergency. He stated also that various district administrations have already made preparations in this area at several locations.
