"No Better Way To Reward Defection": Shiv Sena Chief Whip To Top Court

Sunil Prabhu of Shiv Sena, the Chief Whip of the Shiv Sena, told the Supreme Court about tomorrow’s major hearing on political crises in the state. According to Mr Prabhu, the rebel MLAs must be kept suspended while disqualification proceedings are completed.

The Supreme Court sent notice on June 27 to the Deputy speaker, requesting his response regarding the Eknath Shinde camp plea against the disqualification notices.

Uddhav Thackay’s Shiv Sena faction, including Chief Whip Sunil Prabhu of Shiv Sena and Deputy Speaker Narhari Zirewal have filed their replies.
Tomorrow’s court hearing will include a number of petitions by both sides.

In response to Eknath Shield’s appeal, Mr Prabhu today wrote that the MLAs had engaged in antiparty activities. He should be removed as members of Maharashtra Assembly.

They have committed the “constitutional crime of defection.” Eknath Shinde, now Chief Minister of India — was hand-in-glove all along with the BJP,” read Mr Prabhu’s reply to the court.
