SILCHAR: An odd incident saw a man light himself on fire, and then run straight to a Branch of Bandhan Bank. He later died from his burn injuries at Silchar Medical College. It happened at Masimpur in Silchar on Tuesday in broad daylight. Sujan Das (a mid-thirtyees youth from Palonghat, in the Dholai Constituency) was named as the deceased. Eyewitnesses reported that they witnessed a man setting himself ablaze in front the Bandhan Bank branch. He then ran straight to the office. He was rushed by SMCH to hospital after the people around him tried to put out the flames. At 2.30pm, however, he died from his injuries. According to a police source, an investigation was already underway. Sujan Das may have joined Bandhan Bank as a bank employee on February 20, 2020. After three weeks, he quit the position on March 15. A source in police said that employees had fled from the office during the incident.
