Meeting of District Women Cells held in Lakhimpur district

LAKHIMPUR: On Tuesday, the District Level Women Cell met in Lakhimpur. It was held in the conference room of Lakhimpur Zila Parishad Office. The meeting was opened by Sumit Sattawan, Deputy Commissioner. Rupa Kaman and Hemprava Borthakur, Chairpersons of the Assam State Commission for Women were also present. Hemprava Borthakur stressed the importance of education for women in order to create an educated society. She called on the District Level Women Cell (DLC) to hold awareness programmes and organize meetings among women in order to inform them about current issues. In addition, she suggested that awareness programs be held on domestic violence, woman trafficking, and other crimes against women to help eradicate these issues.
