Indian authorities have asked Twitter to remove content from its accounts over the last year. This includes posts that support an independent Sikh state and tweets criticizing the government’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
India’s IT ministry didn’t immediately reply to our Tuesday request for comment regarding Twitter’s legal maneuver.
The Indian government stated previously that major social media platforms, including Twitter and Facebook, did not comply with requests for removal despite having legal status.
