DOOMDOOMA: Tinsukia District Agriculture Department celebrated the ‘Crop Insurance Week under the ‘Azadi K Amrit Mahostsav campaign’ to commemorate the 75th anniversary the nation’s independence. The Tinsukia District Agriculture Department introduced the “Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana” among farmers to mark this occasion.
Awareness meetings were organized by HDFC ERGO, Tinsukia District Agriculture Department in seven block offices across the district. It attracted over 200 farmers in seven days. Farmers were briefed by officers from the department as well as executives from HDFC ERGO about crop insurance and its benefits, particularly in Assam which is prone to flooding. They were also informed about claims and the registration process, as well as the cost of the premium per hectare.
The department is also organising IEC vans that will visit Gaon Panchayats in the district until July 15, 2022, to educate farmers and promote the ‘Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana.
