A senior official from Northeast Frontier Railway announced Tuesday that the rail link to Assam’s Dima Hasao area, which was destroyed in several devastating landslides on Tuesday, had been restored.
Soon, train services on this section will be resumed. It connects Tripura to Manipur and Mizoram to the Barak valley.
Sabyasachi De (NFR Chief Public Relations Officer) stated that despite rain acting as a barrier to the work, N F Railway had completed the restoration of the hill segment within the time frame set.
“Full-fledged rail connectivity to the Northeast will soon be restored, with freight services as the first priority. He said that Railway had made every effort to restore the line damaged and restart train services.
The Northeast had been assured earlier by Ashwini Vaishnaw (railway minister) that services in the hill sections would be resumed on July 10.
