GUWAHATI: National investigation agency (NIA), has intensified their probe into recruitment of militant group from Assam ULFAI.
According to media reports, the NIA keeps in touch with Assam’s police officers in Sivasagar and Chapakhowa.
Moreover, the NIA keeps in touch with Sivasagar, Chapakhowa, and Dibrugarh in Assam to investigate the recruitment drive by the ULFA/I.
Further, the NIA continues to collect information about Assam’s youths who joined the ULFAI.
Notably, newly-recruited ULFA-I personnel from Assam are undergoing treatment in a training camp located in Myanmar.

Proscribed rebel outfit from Assam – ULFA-I – after a long hiatus, seems to have become proactive once again.
A ministry of home affairs note states that the ULFAI plans major attacks against security personnel and civilians.
ULFA-I’s kidnapping efforts in Assam have been intensified, as has its activities in neighbouring Arunachal Pradesh.
“ULFA is planning major strikes on security forces and civilians besides intensifying its kidnapping spree,” an earlier MHA note read.
ULFA-I also increased its recruiting drive, bringing in youths from Assam as well as other parts of India.

Intelligence reports indicate that the ULFA-I have begun their recruitment drives in Delhi, NCR, and Mumbai, focusing on youths who hail from Assam.
The newly recruited cadres of ULFA-I will then be sent to Myanmar-based camps of the outfit for further training.
After receiving directives from the MHA in recent months, the NIA launched an investigation into the recruitment drive and plans to attack ULFA-I.
