Assam Floods – NHPC donates Rs 2crore to Chief Minister’s Relief Fund

LAKHIMPUR – The Chief Minister’s Relief Fund received a donation of Rs 2.35 crore from NHPC. This was to help with the flooding in the State. AK Singh, the Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD) of NHPC met Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday in Guwahati and presented the cheque in this regard. Lakhimpur’s MP Pradan Baruah was also there, as well as Manab Delka, the Lakhimpur MLA ManabDeka.

During presentation of cheques, it was also possible to review the progress made in the sub-subansiri lower hydroelectric project (SLHP). The Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma wished the SLHP would be completed as soon as possible. The State Government will provide all support possible for the commissioning and completion of the project, he stated.

According to a press release, the Chief Minister of NHPC and CMD of NHPC had also talked about developing hydroelectrical and solar power in Assam. This included pump storage hydrop plants and floating solar farms.
