Dhakuakhana Road Development Committee asks government for reconstruction of old DK Road

LAKHIMPUR: A Dhakuakhana Road Development Committee demanded that the State Government strengthen and reconstruct the DK Road to link with the Ghunasuti Bridge, which is being constructed above the River Subansiri. It also requested that the Ghunasuti Bridge be built to connect Mur Siga with Bamunijan. This is the current water route from Subansiri and links Ghunasuti to the main land in North Lakhimpur.

DK Road Development Committee submitted an initial memorandum on these requirements through Sumit Sattawan (Deputy Commissioner for the Lakhimpur District).

The DK Road Development Committee met with a variety of prominent organizations such as All Assam Student’s Union (AASU), Takam Mising Porin Kebang TMPK, Bane Kebang and All Koch Rajbonshi Students Union. On Wednesday, the DK Road was opened and construction began on the Ghunasuti Bridge. Under the leadership of Uday Sankar Hazarika, the North Lakhimpur Press Club president, the meeting took place in the North Lakhimpur Press Club conference hall.

Nitya Mili and Dhanmaoni dutta, Sudipta Haizarika, Sailen Pantging, Bishnu DUTTA, Kumud Baruah, and other speakers gave speeches thanking the BJP led State Government for taking the necessary steps to build the Ghunasuti Bridge. A second resolution was passed at the meeting to prioritise strengthening and reconstructing the DK Road that connects to the Ghunasuti bridge and also to build the same bridge connecting Mur Siga to Bamunijan.
