Instead of receiving the Anundaram Barua Awards, under which students received laptops, the grant will go to 225,65 students.
This decision was made during the Tuesday, July 5th cabinet meeting under Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s chairmanship.
In the past, laptops were awarded by the government to meritorious students under the Anundoram Borooah Scheme. However, this year laptops will now be financial rewarded.
Minister also stated that the funds will directly be transferred to students’ bank accounts.
Additionally, the Cabinet has decided to raise the salaries of vice-chairpersons (chairpersons) and local body members. They will now get Rs 15,000 to Rs 12,000 per month and Rs 10,000 each.
