Zomato Replies To Online vs Offline Food Prices Controversy

With the rise of many food delivery services, ordering food online is now easy. However, sometimes ordering online can be a pain. Recently, a Zomato user shared an incongruity between restaurant prices and the price on the app. The post was shared virally, sparking debate about whether the increase is justifiable.

Rahul Kabra shared images of his restaurant bill, showing how the price of similar dishes was compared to Zomato.

His order of vegetable fried rice and Veg black pepper sauce cost him Rs 689 on Zomato. He discovered that he could buy it offline for Rs 512.

“I’m doing an apple-to-apple comparison between online and offline ordering. What I found was that the offline order cost INR 512. The cost for Zomato order is INR 690 after applying discount INR 75. “Cost escalation at 34.76% per Order INR 178 = (690 512)/512,” wrote Mr Kabra in his post.

He highlighted the fact that many people may stop ordering Zomato food or change to apps once they realize how expensive it is.
