World Environment Day observed throughout Assam

TEZPUR: A full-day program of World Environment Day with the theme of “Only One Earth” was held at KVK Campus by KVK, Sonitopur and Napaam. The program began with the inaugural address of Angana Sarmah (i / c) Head, KVK and Sonitpur. At the opening ceremony, Angana Salma welcomed participants and made farmers aware of the importance of plants for living a sustainable life in harmony with nature. She also emphasized the role of the agricultural community in mitigating the effects of climate change. A medicinal / fruit sapling planting program was held on the KVK campus and along the road, with 35 students from Assam Agricultural University receiving RAWEP and active participation of farmers and women from neighboring villages. ..

Medicinal / fruit seedlings were also distributed to farmers. A painting contest was also held for RAWEP students, and prizes were distributed. Dr. Ranjit Bordoloi, SMS (Fisheries Science), Roji Chutia, SMS (Agriculture), Namita Dutta, SMS (Soil Science), Sarmitha Borgohain (PAC), Uttam Jyoti Sarmah (OSA), Jitam Kasyap (JSCO), APART Staff and other KVK staff also participated in the program.

SIVASAGAR: World Environment Day was celebrated at Sibsagar Commerce College with a one-day program on Sunday. Under the leadership of the College Union Body, NSS members and the NCC Military Academy have launched a plantation and cleaning program. The media department then held a poster contest and street play on the conservation of the Panidi Hin Bird Reserve. This was followed by nature innovator Abhijit Dwarah, environmental activist Pankaj Agarwalla, and the achievers of the Inter College Youth Festival. Dr. Utapal Datta, Rupam Bezbalua, and Alumni President Noren Chanmai also addressed the rally. The conference was presided over by the principal of the university, Dr. Saumar Jyoti Mahanta, and his assistant professor, Dr. Pankaj Hazarika.

Gauri Saga: Like the rest of the world, World Environment Day was observed in the Najira region with the joint support of the Najira Local Government and the Najira City Council. The clean drive was done at Balup Kayper. At Najira University, three groups of elementary school students held subdivision-level lottery competitions. Sabyasachi Kashap, ADC and SDO (citizen), and Najira have started the tournament. At this time, the logo (platic pot) “I Love Nazira” was installed in front of the Najira branch office for the beautification announced by Mr. Bornari Chetiau, the chairman of Najira City Hall. DOOMDOOMA: World Environment Day was observed on Sunday on the grounds of Doomdooma Girls’ HS School by the Doomdooma branch of the Assam Scientific Association (ASS). To that end, a meeting was held in the auditorium, chaired by Principal Sangita Barkacati. Dillen Deca, Director and Coordinator of the Tinsukia District ASS, spoke about the main theme of the Golden Jubilee Year of the World Environment Day Summit in Sweden, which hosted the summit under the United Nations. 1972 Environmental Program (UNEP).

The meeting was also addressed by ASS President, Doomdooma Chapter, Prabin Mazumdar, School Management Development Committee (SMDC) President, Abhijit Khataniar, and Science Teacher and Science Teacher Utpal Pujari. From the student’s side, Baby Balik addressed the rally. At the end of the meeting, teacher Swagata Sonoir made an environmental vow to the students. The meeting was also attended by Deputy Chief Cabinet Secretary Khanin Phukan, female members Nivarani Chaudhury (Das) and RubiM Chaudhury. An art and quiz contest was also held among the students. After the meeting, saplings were planted on the premises and members of the Duma Duma branch of ASS grew a “minor forest” on campus.
