Wildlife Crime Control Bureau seizes pangolin scales

The Chinese pangolin participates in Schedule I of the Wildlife Conservation Act of 1972 and may be sentenced to 7 to 10 years in prison in Assam for crimes related to pangoline. Today, smuggling of pangolin scales is continuously increasing not only in Assam but throughout India. However, it is the most smuggled mammal in all of India. In 2022, the Wildlife Crime Administration Guwahati carried out four operations related to pangolin scale smuggling. Today’s operations are led by WCCB Assistant Director Jawaharlal Baro, and the Assam Forestry Department’s DFO West Kamrup Division has released a press release.
