Who is the real Shiv Sena? Eknath Shinde moves to claim party
Within 24 hours when President Shiv Sena Uddhav Thacke had to resign as Chief Minister of Maharashtra after the rebellion, rebel leader Enato Sinde made another move towards his end. Did-take control of the party.
Mr. Cinde today issued a letter claiming to be the leader of the parliament and convened a meeting of the Shiv Sena Parliamentary Party. Technically, all MLAs that won with the party’s bow and arrow symbols were held at the hotel. Gore, where the rebel group has been staying since yesterday. Team Thackeray ran for the election committee in opposition to the “whip” (a binding direction) because Cinde and Chief Whip Bharat Gogabert allegedly had already been replaced.
Meanwhile, sources say Eknath Shinde, along with BJP’s Devendra Fadnavis, will meet with Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari to bet the claim that he will form a government later today. Cinde will become deputy prime minister, and Fadnabis, the largest party leader in parliament, will become prime minister tomorrow in a modest position in Large Bawan, sources told Bibarud. The rest of the cabinet will be announced and sworn in later, it will be learned.
If Cinde can prove that he has two-thirds of Shiv Sena’s MLA, he can circumvent the anti-defect law in Congress. However, legal experts say the group will need to merge with existing parties in order to continue as an MLA. Already, Shiv Sena is seeking disqualification of some of these rebels-a problem currently in the Supreme Court.
To control Shiv Sena, the Symbol, and everything else, the rebels need to prove that they have the same majority within the party’s unit-founded by Uddhav Thackeray’s father, Bal Thackeray. It’s a party’s legal and politically complex task.
