Video Shows Tanks Protecting Crisis-Hit Banks In China, Internet Says

You can watch the deployment of tanks on streets to protect banks in crisis-hit China

An internet sensation has been created by an image of tanks lined up against a China road. Reddit users claim that footage was taken in Rizhao Province, China. The tanks were deployed to defend a local bank branch at the center of an investigation. South China Morning Post reported in April that Anhui and Henan citizens were barred from accessing their banks accounts after a “system upgrade.”

SCMP reported that since then bank deposits have been lost at Yuzhou Xinminsheng Village Banks, Shangcai Huimin County Banks, Zhecheng Huanghuai Community Banks, Zhecheng Huanghuai Community Banks, Zhecheng Huanghuai Community Banks and New Oriental Country Banks of Kaifeng, Henan province, as well as Guzhen Xinhuaihe Village Banks in neighbouring Anhui.

Video clip taken from Henan. A long line of tanks prevents locals reaching the branch. As the camera moves, you can see the whole block covered in tanks.

Locals appear agitated, but they are made to wait by the armoured vehicles. Reddit users liken the scene to the Tiananmen Square event in 1989 when hundreds of tanks were deployed to suppress pro-democracy demonstrations.
