Team Thackeray Names New Sena Chief Whip Fearing A Revolt By MPs Next

Uddhav Thackeray vs Eknath Shinde In Supreme Court On Wednesday

A Chief Justice Of India NV RAMana’s bench will hear a series of petitions regarding the dispute between Maharashtra Chief Minster Eknath Shide, and Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray. These petitions are seeking to have rebel Shiv Sena MPLAs disqualified. Thackeray says the Eknath Shinde led government is “illegal” and until the top court makes a decision on disqualifications. The rebels insist that they are real Sena with an overwhelming majority party MLAs.

On Tuesday, the Shiv Sena asked the Maharashtra Governor to not administer the oath of any minister to the Eknath Shide government. This was because the legality and legitimacy of Eknath Shide’s appointment as Chief Minister are in doubt.

Sena MP Sanjay Raut today also demanded the imposition of President’s rule in Maharashtra till the constitution bench of the Supreme Court gives its verdict.

Eknath Shinde, along with Devendra Fadnavis (Bharatiya Janata Party) leader, took oath to be the Chief Minister after his revolt led to the fall of Uddhav Thackeray’s Maha Vikas Aghadi government (MVA).

In a relief to Shiv Sena MLAs of the Uddhav Thackeray faction, the Supreme Court had asked newly-elected Maharashtra Assembly Speaker Rahul Narwekar not to proceed with the plea seeking their disqualification which was sought by the Shinde camp on the ground of defying party whip during the trust vote and the election of the speaker.
