Trina Mall protest at Guwahati Hotel hosting Senna rebels, targeting BJP
Outside the hotel in Guwahati, where Shiv Sena’s rebels are staying, the Trinamool Congress held a major protest this morning.
The protest was led by Assam Chief Lipumbora of the Trinamool Congress. Numerous police officers and guards tried to curb protesters.
Protesters shouted a slogan accusing Assam’s ruling BJP of investing all its resources to enable Shiv Sena’s coup to overthrow the Uddhav Thacke administration in Maharashtra.
The Trinamool Congress argued that the state government had done nothing to alleviate the suffering of those affected by the massive floods in the state. Over 550,000 rupees have been affected by the floods caused by the rising water levels of the Brahmaputra and Barak rivers. Since May, 89 people have died in the flood.
The protest outside the Radisson Blu Hotel in Gwahati became a sideshow of the Maharashtra coalition drama featuring rebels who have been staying at the hotel since Wednesday and preparing for a coup at the coalition’s leader, Shivsener.
Proponents of Eknath Shinde claim that there are about 40 MLAs in the hotel, comfortably the 37 marks needed for rebels to split the party without risking disqualification under the Anti-Defective Act. It exceeds.
