Showcause Notice To Official For Serving "Cold Tea" To Shivraj Chouhan

On Tuesday, a Madhya Pradesh government official was sent a notice of cause for cold-tea serving to Chief Minister Shivraj Sing Chouhan. Rakesh Kanauha, Junior Supply Officer was requested to elaborate on the “breach” of protocol during VIP duty. The Chief Minister didn’t drink tea, according to Press Trust of India. However, the warning was sent to him by the news agency Press Trust of India. After outrage via social media, the notice was rescinded.

After campaigning on Monday for civic body elections, the Chief Minister went to Khajuraho’s VIP Lounge for breakfast. There was the moment of lapse.

A notice was sent to Mr Kanauha from the Sub-Divisional Magistrat DP Dwivedi. It stated: “You were given the responsibility to arrange the breakfast and tea but the quality and taste of the tea that was provided to Chief Minister was poor and was also served cold… This was against protocol and did not follow VIP duty.

According to the notice, such errors can lead to embarrassment for the District Administration regarding VVIP protocol.

In the notice, the official was also requested to justify why he should not face severe action. The notice asked him to reply in three days or “one-sided action” would be taken against him.
