Senior ASDC chief Rajendra Rongpi passes away in Guwahati

HOWRAGHAT: Former Govt Member of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council, Rajendra Rongpi died on Tuesday in a non-public hospital in Guwahati on the age of 65 years. Rajendra Rongpi was below medical therapy for a very long time.

Rongpi was born in Dok Rongpi village, Sarihajan of Bokajan subdivision. He was a frontline chief of the autonomous statehood motion who later grew to become the chief member of the council and remained related to the Autonomous State Demand Committee (ASDC) throughout its struggling days.

Rongpi was elected as Member of Autonomous Council from Sarupathar constituency. He held the portfolio of Well being & Household Welfare and achieved plenty of landmark developments throughout his tenure. As a mark of respect to the departed chief, Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council authority declared July 27 as vacation.
