Russia destroyed hundreds of hospitals in Ukraine: President Zelensky
Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has destroyed hundreds of hospitals and other institutions and has not given doctors medicine to address the ability to perform cancer and surgery, President Volodymyr Zelensky said Thursday.
Zelenskiy said in a video address to medical charities that in the eastern and southern parts of Ukraine, the focus of the fighting, there is a lack of even basic antibiotics in many places.
“Given only the medical infrastructure, as of today, the Russian army has destroyed or damaged nearly 400 medical institutions, including hospitals, maternity wards and outpatient clinics,” he told the rally.
He said the situation was devastating in areas occupied by Russian troops.
“This is equivalent to a complete lack of medication for cancer patients. It means extreme difficulty for diabetes or a complete lack of insulin. It is impossible to perform surgery. It is impossible. Very simply, it means a lack of antibiotics. “
