Restoration work on the Haflong-Silchar Road at Jatinga-Lampour is ongoing

HAFLONG: A severe road contraction at Lampur on Friday disrupted communication between Haflong and Silchar roads for several hours. Hundreds of passengers were stuck for hours on Saturday morning. Considering passenger difficulties, executive members and the local MAC of Amendu Hojai, a member of Harangajao, took the initiative to immediately restore communication work. Hojai mobilized his team to use several types of machines for repairs, while overseeing the entire repair work. Stabilizing the road was a daunting task, but a few hours later light vehicle communications took place.

Meanwhile, the Chief of the Indian Highway System has visited the Silchar-Haflong Road to stock up on the damage caused by the recent constant rains and landslides. He was accompanied by NHAI Regional Officer Alok Kumar.

“From Nriambunglo to Harangajao, four-lane work will begin by October,” NHAI CGM spoke with the media.

However, during this monsoon, this road is properly maintained as a temporary arrangement to ensure the smooth running of vehicles. In response to journalist questions, CGM stated that all precautions are taken with advanced technology to prevent such violations or damage from being caused on the road in the future. Heavy rains and landslides damaged many culverts, resulting in violations that disrupted communication between Haflong and Silchar.
