Rain shelter technology for tomato crops demonstrated in Golagart

The main purpose of this technique is to implement polyethylene sheets to make the same to meet the market demand for tomatoes in the summer in the rainy season.

This technique was successfully implemented under the guidance of District Agricultural Officer Ranjit Kr. Salma, Assistant Chemist (AGMARK) and District Node Officer APART, Golager Tranjanbalua, Morongi ADO Circle Shangamitra Salma’s Agricultural Development Officer.

Farmers procured a total of 16 quintal tomatoes from a 100 square meter demonstration plot and sold them at a wholesale price of Rs. 35 /-per kilometer. When asked about rain shelter technology, the farmers’ reaction was very positive and they were enthusiastic about doing it again in the near future, the press release said.
