Railway connectivity restored in Assam’s hills

Railway Ministry approved Rs 180 crore to restore the railway lines that were damaged by floods in Dima Hasao District, Assam. Following a conversation between Ashwini Vaishaw (Union Railway Minister) and Himanta Biswa Sarma (Assam Chief Minister), the sanction was given. According to the Union Railway Minister, train services will resume in the Northeast section on July 10, 2022. The NF Railway team worked tirelessly to provide connectivity to South Assam Tripura and Manipur. All affected areas were served by successful light engine trials that ended in July 8.

With the help of many organizations and the coordination of their staff, NF Railway completed restoration works in war feet. The NF Railway’s technical team was deployed to quickly restore this section. They were well-versed in the terrain, and they worked round-the clock. A press release stated that restoration work had been finished in record time.

By 2023, rail connectivity will be available in three additional Northeast States.
