President Ram Nath Kovind appeals for promotion and protection of Boro and literature

The President attended the 61st session of Bodo Sahitya Sabha in the Tamurpur district of Assam on May 4, and made this appeal during his speech.

Kovind said Bodo Sahitya Sabha played an important role in ensuring that Boro was introduced as a medium in Assam schools and higher education institutions.

The President also shed light on the significant contribution of former Prime Minister Atalbi Harley Vajpai, who confirmed that Boro was included in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution.

He also said that ensuring the protection and promotion of language is primarily the responsibility of society and government.

Covind urged Prime Minister Himanta Biswa Salma of Assam to take all necessary steps in this direction. He also confessed that he had an old connection with Baudou society and remembered that when he was Congressman Rajasaba, he was always discussing the Baudouland issue.

He added that literature and local languages ​​connect different people.
