Kamrup district seized narcotics and ganja valued at more than Rs 10 crore
RANGIA: Rangia’s and Kamalpur Police officers seized drugs and ganja worth more than Rs 10 million in an operation that took place at Borka, Kamalpur Police Station located in Kamrup District on Saturday night.
Kamrup’s Superintendent of Police Hitesh Ch Roy headed the operation, along with ASP Asif Ahmed, Bhaskar Mala Patowary and OC Rangia Police Station. Based on tips, the SP stated that they seized 1 kilo of drugs and 5 kilos of opium. They also seized 2,000 contraband tablet. He said that the drug peddlers had been carrying them in a small truck with the label “On Telecom Duty”.
By hiding the drug and tablet in a stereo system and an extra tire, the culprits were able to conceal them. Police sources say that the suspects managed to escape with the driver and vehicle’s driver, but they are still being sought by authorities.
