"Must Rise Above Politics": President Kovind In Farewell Address

Presidency Ram Nath Kovind exhorted political parties to get beyond partisan politics and do what’s best for the wellbeing of citizens during Saturday’s farewell address.

The President of India, Kovind called parliament “a temple of democracy” and urged the parties to adopt Gandhian principles during house debates.

He said that “MPs should follow Gandhian philosophy when exercising right of debate and disobedience in Parliament.”

M Venkaiah Naidu (Vice President), Prime Minister Narendra Modi (Prime Minister) and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla attended a farewell ceremony in parliament’s Central Hall.

Droupadi Murmu will be inaugurated as President-Elect on Monday. She is a tribal woman.
