Mukesh Ambani, Family's Security Can Stay With Centre, Says Supreme Court

On Friday, Mukesh Ambani, an Indian industrialist, and his family can still have central government security, according to the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court dismissed the case that challenged the provision.

The appeal by the central government against the Tripura High Court’s order on a Public Interest Litigation (or PIL) was allowed by Chief Justice NV Ramana, Justices Krishna Murari, and Hima Kohli.

The Tripura High Court had placed on hold its orders regarding the petition to challenge the security given to the Mumbai industrialist and his family late last month.

Assisting the centre was Solicitor General Tushar Mehta. He stated that Bikash Saha, a Tripura resident, has nothing to do in relation to the security provided by Mumbai.

Two interim orders were passed by the Tripura High Court on May 31st and 21st. They asked for the placement of the original file, maintained at the Ministry of Home Affairs(MHA), regarding Mr Ambani’s threat perception and assessment and the basis on which security was granted.
