Minister Calls For Introspection After Chief Justice's Remarks On Media

Anurag Thakur (Information and Broadcasting Minister) called Saturday for media houses to examine their function after Chief Justice of India NV RAMana declared that kangaroo court by media was detrimental to democracy’s health.

At the All India Radio function for National Broadcasting Day, Thakur stated that CJI Ramana’s comments raised doubts about the credibility and legitimacy of the media.

He said, “We should examine whether we’ve crossed the Lakshman Rekha’ when delivering news.”

He said, “I want to remind friends in media that such an impression can be created,”

CJI Ramana stated in Ranchi that agenda-driven discussions and the kangaroo courts run by media are harmful to democracy’s health.
