Military Exercise With US "Totally Different": India On Drills Near Border

As China opposes the third party meddling in the India-China border issue in reference to India-US joint military drills Yudh Abhyas, India on Thursday said that military exercise near the Line of Actual Control (LAC) is “totally different”.

Arindam Bagchi, spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs said that the parties should adhere to the agreements of the past during a weekly press conference.

“I do not understand what the term third-party interference means. India’s exercise in the USA is completely different. I do not know how to interpret that. He said that it was targeted and violates agreements.

China strongly opposed war games between India and USA near the Sino-India border. The Chinese argued that the US is interfering in the bilateral boundary dispute and that the drills would violate agreements made between New Delhi (China) and Beijing.

When asked by a reporter about the comments he made on future and ongoing joint military exercises between the US-India near the China/India border, Senior Colonel Tan Kefei said that “we firmly oppose any other party to meddle with the China–India border issue in any way.”
