Maharashtra Minister Searched by Research Agency in Money Laundering Survey

Several locations related to Maharashtra’s Minister of Transport Anil Parab were attacked by the Executive Office (ED) this morning as part of a money laundering investigation related to alleged misconduct in land transactions.

Investigations have been conducted in seven locations, Pune, Mumbai and Dapoli, after investigative agencies have filed new proceedings against Shiv Sena’s leaders under the Criminal Division of the Money Laundering Prevention Act (PMLA). ..

The ED proceeding against the Minister, related to Mr. Parab’s allegation that he purchased land in Dapoli in the Ratnagiri district for Rs 100 million in 2017, was registered in 2019.

The land was then sold to Mumbai-based cable operator Sadanand Kadam for Rs 101 million in 2020, and the resort is said to have been built between 2017 and 2020.

Construction of the resort began in 2017 and cost more than 600 million rupees, according to a previous Income Tax Department survey.
