Litterateur donates to Assam Language Department at North Lakhimpur College
LAKHIMPUR: Well-known literary writer Dhanada Devi donated a total of Rs. 200,000 to the Assamese Relief Fund at North Lakhimpur College (Autonomous). She provided research funding to two students in a department in a poor family and donated that amount to award the annual Jononi Award.
Dhanada Devi is a graduate of the Assam Language Department at North Lakhimpur College (Autonomous). She handed a check to the head of the Assamese Department, Alabinda Raikowa, in a program held at the university on Wednesday. The program was attended by Dr. Hemanta Sarham and Dr. Dheeraj Pator. Dhanada Devi awarded her the title Pona Devi Sowarani Jononi Bota in memory of her mother, and she awarded it to the highest graduate of the Assam language department at the university. This award has been awarded to relevant students for the last few years. Dr Biman Chandra Chetia, Principal of North Lakhimpur College (Autonomous), thanked Dhanada Devi for her greatness.
