Ashok Gehlot, Law Minister, Makes Clear Comments on Judiciary
Ashok Gehlot, Rajasthan Chief minister, today made a number of sharp remarks against the Centre. Also, he addressed issues relating to judiciary at an event held in capital Jaipur. This was in presence of Chief Justice NV Ramana, Kiren Rijiju (Union Law Minister), and other top judges from both the Supreme Court, the Rajasthan High Court, as well as Chief Justice of India NV.
He was upset at the way Supreme Court judges were targeted in relation to their remarks on Nupur Sharma.
In a reference to a letter written by former judges, ex-bureaucrats, and retired officers in the armed forces, Mr Gehlot stated that “116 people were forced to stand (against) the two judges”.
“Justices Surya Kant, and Pardiwala recently said something. We have a responsibility to the judiciary. The two judges were challenged by 116 individuals, including ex-High Court and Supreme Court judges and bureaucrats, as well as officers, and other officials. It is unclear how the situation was handled and what issues were created. “The atmosphere created was created because Supreme Court judges have made observations about the happenings in the country,” he stated.
