Landslide disrupts communication between Sri Lanka and Haflong

Haflong: Landslides in many places due to heavy rains have disrupted communication between Sri Lanka and Haflong. Continued rain caused a landslide near Grbalj on the Ranka-Haflong Road. Near the village of Lungkhok, water spilled out of the road, making it difficult for people to cross the road. A landslide near Wedrendisa between Maiban and Maha disrupted railroad communications. Meanwhile, the railroad team cleared the railroad tracks and restored railroad communications.

There is a flood of reports of landslides from Haflong and the surrounding villages. Restoration work has already begun by the disabled authorities and communications will be restored within a few hours. In a bold attempt, 11 workers were rescued from drowning in the river Harangajao by police and civilian administration.
