Krishi Vigyan Kendra Holds Peasant Fair in Tinsukia

Tinsukia: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Tinsukia successfully held a peasant fair with the support of “Kisan Bhagedari Prathamikta Hamari”, which is part of the national campaign “Azadika Amrit Mahotsav”. The fair was started on Tuesday by the Minister of Tea Tribes Welfare Department, Labor & Employment of Sanjoy Kisan.

The event was successfully attended by more than 300 farmers from across the district. KVK Tinsukia praised 13 progressive farmers and farmers’ women for their significant contributions in agriculture and related sectors during the event to motivate and encourage farmers. The fair was attended by various government and non-governmental organizations throughout the district, including CRS, IFFCO, ASRLM and ATMA. Local farmers were provided with a platform to showcase their products.

A very strong discussion was then arranged with a welcome remark by Gayatri Deori Bhuyan, Senior Scientist and Head of KVK in Tinsukia. Rajit Dutta, SDAO of the Ministry of Agriculture, emphasized important elements of traditional and natural farming and also discussed crops such as oil seeds, millet, and bio-enriched crops.

The program was attended by Tapan Neog, DAO, Ministry of Agriculture, Pabitra Kachari, Co-Director (Agriculture), Tinsukia, Samar Biswakarma, and other dignitaries. The event ended with a farmer-scientist exchange and cultural program.
