Kokrajhar district farmers in distress

KOKRAJHAR – Due to drought conditions, the farmers of Kokrajhar have been left helpless because most paddy fields in the area are still dry. In the last two weeks, there hasn’t been enough rainfall. Rainwater in Kokrajhar is the main source of income for farmers. Things have gotten worse due to the heat wave.

G. Narzary from South Aflagaon said that South Aflagaon farmers were being deceived by the recent rains. According to him, the area had been devastated by recent floods. Although it was peak season for transplanting the paddy, there wasn’t enough rain. He said most paddy fields would remain dry even if enough rain does not fall in the following days.
