Guwahati: GMDA installs electric vehicle charging booth

Meanwhile, in a major initiative to strengthen the EV environment and tackle pollution, the Ministry of Heavy Industries (MHI) has approved a total of 89 EVCS (Electric Vehicle Charging Stations) for three northeastern states.

Of the total of 89 electric vehicle charging stations, 20 were installed in Assam and 10 in each of the two major cities of Guwahati and Jorhat.

This initiative falls under the second phase of the Indian Government’s FAME (Early Adoption and Manufacturing of Hybrid and Electric Vehicles) schemes to reduce the use of diesel and gasoline vehicles in India.

MHI has issued an official statement regarding the installation of 89 EV charging stations in various cities in the three northeastern states.

As stated in the official statement, the ministry has licensed 20 electric vehicle charging stations for Assam, 40 for Megaraya and 29 for Sikim.

In Meghalaya, the center has installed all 40 EVCSs in the capital of Shillong and a total of 29 EVCSs in Sikkim in the state capital Gangtok.
