Gujarat Ex Top Cop Arrested A Day After Court Ruling On 2002 Riots

A former Gujarat police officer was detained the day after a court decision regarding a riot in 2002

Gujarat police arrested former police chief RB Sreekumar on Saturday and detained social activist Teesta the day after the Supreme Court upheld all the unambiguous information that the Special Investigation Team (SIT) provided to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the 2002 riot. Setalvad is accused of attempting a plot that allegedly involved a victim.

According to complaints made by Ahmedabad criminal branch officials, Sanjiv Bhatt, a former Indian Police Service (IPS) officer who has already served time in prison in another case, is the subject of the first report of information (FIR).

Tista Setalbad claimed that her arrest was illegal and that she was worried for her safety after being picked up from a residence in Mumbai.

According to police sources, she will be arrested and taken to Ahmedabad.

Sanjiv Bhatt has been sentenced to life imprisonment on a death sentence in custody and, in another case, sentenced to imprisonment to form a lawyer in a false case.
