"Fight For Life": Aaditya Thackeray Leads Protest Against Metro Car Shed

Aaditya Thackeray is a Shiv Lena leader who was also a former Maharashtra minister. Today, he protested against the move by the state to relocate the Metro-3 car shed in Mumbai to Aarey Forest. Eknath Shinde, Maharashtra Chief Minister, declared that the Mumbai Metro Line 3 car shed will be moving from Kanjurmarg into Aarey Forest.

Aaditya Thackeray, a protest organizer, stated, “This is the fight for Mumbai. Fight for life.” We fought to save our tribes and for forests. Here were the trees that were saved when we left.

“Maharashtra’s anger against us shouldn’t be directed at the city. He said that the climate change has made it imperative to protect jungles and the environment.

Protesters held placards and protested against the proposal of the government to move the project to Mumbai’s Aarey Forest, an area of 1,800 acres that has been called the megalopolis’s ‘green lung’.

This issue began in 2019, when Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation applied for the Brihanmumbai Metropolitan Corporation (BMC’s) permission to cut trees at Aarey Colony. The decision was protested by many environmentalists and led to massive demonstrations in Mumbai.
