"End Of Season One": How Twitter Staff Reacted To Elon Musk's Pull-out

Twitter Inc workers expressed their disbelief Friday following Elon Musk’s announcement that he would end a deal to purchase the social media firm. This could signal the beginning of many months of legal battles.

Musk claimed that Twitter violated several provisions in a $44 Billion merger agreement. This included failing to provide sufficient information on spam accounts, and firing some recruiters and executives. The chairman of Twitter said that the board would pursue legal action in order to enforce the agreement.

Marketing leaders, engineers and others at the company posted quick memes to Twitter, including one of a child screaming into a cellphone and another of a rollercoaster ride. This was in response to Musk’s latest move to court Twitter. Some joked that it was impossible to break their personal commitments.

Because Musk prefers to reduce headcount, decrease content moderation, limit remote work and minimize costs in general, employees have voiced concern that Musk will take over Twitter.

Musk’s offer, which he has now reneged on, also represents a 36% premium in company shares. This could be a huge payday for other shareholders.
