Bokajan: Karbi Anglong police seized a lot of heroin from two cars along the Assam Nagaland border in East Karbi Anglong.

Three people were also taken into police custody, including one woman, in connection with this recovery.

Two vehicles were found in Rengma Basti, which is adjacent to Assam-Nagaland border, according to Karbi Anglong police reports.

During a complete search of the vehicle, police found 99 boxes. This included 49 boxes from EECO van (registration number NL07CB2827) and 49 boxes from Gypsy (registration number NL07CA5586). The boxes contained 1.330 KG heroin.

Police also arrested three persons including a woman identified as Avi alias Angela, 25, Pavei Saichama, 25 and Veio, 42 in connection with the recovery.

Avi lives in New Minister Hill Kohima. Pavei is from Senapati, while Veio and Veio reside in Tadubi. 

The preliminary investigation found that three of the trio were carrying drugs from Manipur. They had also used Rengma Basti to get into Assam, avoiding the Khatkhati police routine check.

It is estimated that the drugs confiscated are worth close to 10crores on the black marketplace.
