Dollar workers say they don’t allow gradual protests in Silchar

Silchar: The state cabinet’s decision to provide $ 10,000 to the dollar TE family under a goodwill grant did not appear to lower the upset curtain by workers protesting the establishment of Greenfield Airport. .. The Asom Majuri Shramik Union, which led the turmoil, clearly stated that no one would receive the subsidy unless the government approved the proposal adopted at the workers’ hearing. The proposal following the hearing convened by the district administration was signed by 2,328 workers in the dollar, a statement released by the Shramik Union said.

Workers also said they had clearly informed the government that they would never leave the land they had cultivated for generations to set up the airport. The Shramik Union meeting was held in Sirchar and was presided over by Kunjalata Ghatowar, Bagan Panchayat of the Lalbagh division of the DoluTE Estate. The release further added that acquiring land in dollars violated various provisions of the Industrial Dispute Act if it resulted in disrespecting the interests of workers. Workers did not accept goodwill subsidies until the government addressed these issues.

Meanwhile, Shramik Union president Mrinal Kanti Shome was reportedly summoned by police on Wednesday night.
