Delhi police add new accusations against fact checker Mohammed Zubair

Police in Delhi have added new charges against Mohammed Zubair, co-founder of fact-checking site AltNews, who was arrested in 2018 on suspicion of offensive tweets. Delhi police created a fact checker in the court of Patiara House.

News fees have been added along with Section 35 of the FCRA or Foreign Contribution (Regulatory) Act.

“Criminal plots and destruction of evidence have been added to the FIR along with Section 35 of the FCRA,” Delhi police told Patiara House Court.

The addition of criminal plots to FIR allows the enforcement agency to intervene in investigating money laundering.

Delhi police are also seeking 14 days of judicial detention for Mr Zveil. Meanwhile, an Alt News journalist lawyer filed a bail application in court.
