Bordubi police seized 14 containers of condensate oil on the Matiakhana Panitola road
Dibrugarh: In a joint operation by Boldubi police and Oil India Limited guards, dampers were confiscated with 2,800 liters of condensate on the Mattia Kana Panitora Road near Barha Horatiniari under the Boldubi Police Station on Friday.
Condensate oil stored in 14 containers was tampered with and stolen from Oil India Limited’s (OIL) crude oil transportation pipeline. However, the driver of the vehicle carrying the oil managed to escape.
“The OIL security team informed us that a dump truck (AS-23-CC-3205) carrying stolen condensate oil was heading for Duliajan. After getting the information, we set up a check post in Baruahola Tiniali. I saw it around 1:30 am. The dump truck approached very fast and signaled a stop. The truck slowed down and stopped, but he was off the truck before the police team caught the driver. He jumped down and took advantage of the darkness to escape, “the police said. The official said.
According to sources, oil thieves are using every possible way to steal condensate oil by cutting oil pipelines. Recently, many thieves have been arrested by police and admitted to disconnecting oil pipelines.
Crude oil theft has become a major problem for oil companies such as Oil India Limited and Assam’s ONGC. Oil India Limited also procures drones to monitor pipelines and other products. Monitoring is primarily to curb oil theft, condensate, pipe theft, wellhead tampering, and oil supply pipeline tapping.
